What lock installation actually involves
Fitting a lock well matters more than the brand on the box. A deadbolt in a poorly prepared door, or a strike plate screwed into soft architrave rather than the frame stud, will fail at the first solid kick. We prepare the door and the frame properly, and we choose hardware that suits the stile, the swing and the building's rules.

Will you have to cut into my heritage door?
Only as much as the lock genuinely requires, and we will tell you first. Where a property is heritage-listed and a permit for the change has been refused, the rental standard itself recognises that as an exemption — the answer is different hardware, not a butchered door.
What is the difference between a deadlock and a deadlatch?
A deadlatch springs shut behind you and can be opened with a key or handle. A deadlock has a bolt you throw deliberately, which cannot be pushed back — that is what actually resists forced entry, and what the rental standard is asking for.
Can you fit a lock that does not need a key from the inside?
Yes, and on most entry doors that is what you want: a single-cylinder deadlock that is keyed outside and thumb-turn inside, so nobody is hunting for a key during a fire.
