What key cutting actually involves

A badly cut key does not fail immediately. It works for a month, wears the pins in your cylinder, and then strands you. We cut to the original specification, on calibrated machines, and we test every key in the lock it is meant for before handing it over.

What the job covers

  • House, unit and padlock keys
  • Restricted keys for authorised signatories
  • Transponder and remote vehicle keys
  • Mortice, safe and cabinet keys
  • Key alike sets
  • Duplication from a worn original

What it costs

We do not publish prices. Two jobs with the same name can be an hour apart in practice, and a number on a page that does not fit your door helps nobody. Quotes are free, given before we start, and there is no obligation.

Key Cutting — what customers say

Illustrative examples — real reviews replace these at launch.

Cut spares for the whole family and tested every one in the lock before he left. The last place I used gave me keys that jammed within a month.
Fiona M.Malvern
My original was badly worn and he cut to the code rather than copying the worn blade. The new one turns better than the old one did.
Adrian K.Glen Iris
Needed extra restricted keys for the office. Checked I was on the signatory list first, which is the entire reason we went restricted.

Key Cutting — common questions

Can you copy a key stamped 'do not duplicate'?

Not without authorisation. If it is a restricted key, copies can only be cut for a registered signatory on that system — which is exactly the protection you paid for when it was installed.

My original key is worn. Will the copy be worse?

A copy of a worn key inherits the wear and then adds to it. Where possible we cut to the original code rather than tracing the worn blade, which gives you a key that fits like the first one did.
