Car Key Replacement & Auto LocksmithRichmond & inner Melbourne
Lost every car key? We cut and program on site — no tow to the dealership.
What car key replacement actually involves
Losing the only key to a car is one of the few problems that can strand you completely. Our auto vans carry key blanks, cutting equipment and programming hardware, so in most cases we come to the car rather than the car going anywhere. That includes the harder job — all keys lost, where there is no existing key to clone from.
What the job covers
- Transponder key cutting and programming
- Proximity and smart-key replacement
- Remote and flip-key repair
- All-keys-lost programming
- Ignition barrel repair and replacement
- Broken key extraction from ignition or door
- Motorcycle and scooter keys
What it costs
We do not publish prices. Two jobs with the same name can be an hour apart in practice, and a number on a page that does not fit your door helps nobody. Quotes are free, given before we start, and there is no obligation.

Car Key Replacement — what customers say
Illustrative examples — real reviews replace these at launch.
“Lost the only key to the car in a park. He came to the car, cut and programmed a new one on the spot. No tow, no dealership.”
“Asked for the rego papers and my licence before doing anything, which is exactly what I would want if it were somebody else's car.”
“Key snapped in the ignition on the way to work. Extracted it and had a replacement cut before I had finished the phone calls to reschedule my day.”

Car Key Replacement — common questions
Do I have to tow it to the dealer?
Usually not. For the large majority of makes on Melbourne roads we can cut and program at the kerbside. A tow is the slow, expensive path and it is rarely the necessary one.
What do you need from me?
Photo ID, proof you own the vehicle — registration papers or the certificate of registration — and the VIN. We will not program a key to a car without them, which is precisely what stops someone else doing it to yours.
I still have one key. Is a spare cheaper than waiting?
Cutting a spare while you still have a working key is a much simpler job than an all-keys-lost program. If you are down to one key, that is the moment to get a second one made.
